A sloped, unusable backyard in Atlanta turned into a large, level concrete patio built for grilling, seating, and year-round outdoor living.

The challenge
The yard sat on soft Georgia red clay with a noticeable slope toward the house, so water pooled near the foundation after every storm.
How we built it
We regraded the pad to pitch water away from the home, compacted the sub-base, set forms to hold a consistent slope, and tied in a rebar grid before pouring.
The result
A flat, crack-resistant patio with clean joint lines that drains away from the house and gives the family real usable square footage out back.
